Today is Mom’s Birthday. She’s feeling better now that her radiation therapy is finally over. The last session was supposed to be last Wednesday but it was extended three days, due to maintenance of the radiation machine and the need to change the door to the room she had been assigned to for the 25 treatments. So Friday was her last treatment and it was none too soon because she was exhausted. The fatigue that comes with radiation therapy, (not to mention having to go to the hospital every damn day and having to wait hours on end because they’re always behind schedule), interferred big time with her Parkinson’s medication. Consequently her tremors, especially on the inside, became considerably more and more pronounced as her fatigue increased, which in itself caused even more fatigue
With complete and total rest over the past few days, she seems to be feeling a tad better… hurray! Which means she’ll be able to enjoy her birthday. It’ll be a small celebration, especially that we are a small family (just the 3 of us), but it will be a celebration filled with lots of love.
Happy Birthday Mom!
Love you! *hug*
Happy Birthday to OM as well! Luv you too!

Today is a very special day for an old friend that I lost contact with a few years ago. In honour of this special day I wanted to share a few quotes/sayings about friendship that I have collected over the years…
- A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you today just the way you are.
- A friend is a promise spoken only by the heart.
- A friend is never an imposition.
- Friendship! Mysterious cement of the soul! Sweetener of life! And solder of society!
- Friendship is love without his wings.
- A friend is someone that never lets you stand alone.
- Friendship is the golden thread that ties our hearts together.
- Friendship is a promise spoken only by the heart.
- True friends give you their opinion, false ones give you yours.
- Friendship is the wine of life.
- However true love is, true friendship is rarer.
(Ain’t that the truth! :Þ)
- Making a friend takes a moment; being a friend takes a lifetime.
- A friend is someone who thinks you’re a good egg, though you’re slightly cracked.

A philosophy professor stood before his class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, rocks about 2″ in diameter. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He then asked once more if the jar was full. This time the students were sure and they responded with a unanimous “Yes!” The professor then produced two cans of beer from under the table and proceeded to pour their entire contents into the jar — effectively filling the empty spaces between the sand. The students laughed.
“Now,” said the professor, as the laughter subsided, “I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The rocks are the important things - your family, your partner, your health, your children; things that, if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car.”
The sand represented everything else. The small stuff. “If you put the sand into the jar first,” he continued “there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.”
“Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal.”
“Take care of the rocks first -the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.” One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the beer represented.
The professor smiled. “I’m glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of beers.”

Guys who think that the unshaven look is sexy need to think again. Most women don’t particularly like it, me included, except for a well maintained mustache, of course
Visit noscruff.org to find out how us gals really feel about it! Y’all are a lot more handsome and sexy when clean-shaven. Stop being so lazy, make use of your razor! :Þ

Once upon a time, there was a nonconfrming sparrow who decided not to fly south for the winter. However, soon the weather turned so cold that he reluctantly started to fly south. In a short time ice began to form on his wings and he fell to earth in a barnyard, almost frozen. A cow passed by and crapped on the little sparrow. The sparrow thought it was the end. But, the manure warmed him and defrosted his wings. Warm and happy, able to breathe, he started to sing. Just then a large cat came by and hearing the chirping, investigated the sounds. The cat cleared away the manure, found the chirping bird and promptly ate him.
The moral of the story:
1. Everyone who shits on you is not necessarily your enemy.
2. Everyone who gets you out of the shit is not necessarily your friend.
3. And, if you’re warm and happy in a pile of shit, keep your mouth shut.

Labels are for the things men make, not for men. The most primative man is too complex to be labeled.

Everyone tells lies. Anyone who says that they don’t lie is a liar! Little “white lies” that don’t harm anyone are sometimes necessary in life, unfortunate as that may be. These kinds of lies are most often used for such purposes as protecting our privacy from strangers and such, for example. It’s the serious lies I can’t abide! The lies that people who claim to be friends tell for no apparent reason. Lies that break trusts… lies that kill friendships and relationships. These lies are always hurtful no matter how big or small the lie is!
Lies that have no purpose are just about the worse. You figure if the person is going to lie about such minial things, that boy howdy, imagine how bad the lies are about the big things in life. My definition of friendship doesn’t include lies, nor does my definition of a relationship, be it a business realtionship, a romantic relationship, or a family relationship. If I ask a question it is because I am prepared to hear the truth! Being a logical person I can’t see the point of telling lies about the most mundane, daily activities. If a person lies about that, then it’s safe to say that they’re more likely to lie about important stuff.
I could drone on about this subject… and don’t get me started on hypocrites (lol) - that’ll be for another blog entry some day… in the meantime.. that’s my thoughts on the act of telling lies. I’m too old to put up with people who lie!
