LA’s Soapbox

Today is Mom’s Birthday. She’s feeling better now that her radiation therapy is finally over. The last session was supposed to be last Wednesday but it was extended three days, due to maintenance of the radiation machine and the need to change the door to the room she had been assigned to for the 25 treatments. So Friday was her last treatment and it was none too soon because she was exhausted. The fatigue that comes with radiation therapy, (not to mention having to go to the hospital every damn day and having to wait hours on end because they’re always behind schedule), interferred big time with her Parkinson’s medication. Consequently her tremors, especially on the inside, became considerably more and more pronounced as her fatigue increased, which in itself caused even more fatigue

With complete and total rest over the past few days, she seems to be feeling a tad better… hurray! Which means she’ll be able to enjoy her birthday. It’ll be a small celebration, especially that we are a small family (just the 3 of us), but it will be a celebration filled with lots of love.
